Smart technology has evolved at a progressive rate. Whether you serve the young professional, the two-kids-one-dog family or the empty nesters, smart technology is becoming an integral part of the American home – and the HVAC community.

Most homeowners understand and enjoy the basics of smart technology – controlling their thermostat from their cell phone or automatically adjusting their home temperature based upon their proximity to their homes. These same people may not be ready to pay for the totally connected home yet. They want products that do a little more than previous generations, and they need help in finding those products that are smart and innovative, yet not overwhelming. This is the opportunity for the HVAC community.

There are tons of opportunities for smart HVAC products. Each of them offering a chance to add a little more “smartness” to the home. The challenge is in understanding the current “smart landscape” and learning how it can positively impact the HVAC professional’s business.

As homeowners begin to explore smart products, they will have a lot of questions. This interactive session will take a look at ways HVAC professionals can navigate the path of smart product options through partnerships, identifying easy-to-install product options and basic education and training. We’ll help the audience navigate the buzz words in home automation and create a comfort level to the contractor/installer on the key selling features to highlight with homeowners for positive upsell results. We’ll also share best practices on which smart products are easy sell-ins with minimal installation concerns – making it a homerun for the homeowner relationship.

About Gary Hsieh

Gary Hsieh comes to LUX Products Corp with deep expertise in home automation. For the past 15 years, Gary has engineered, deployed and managed building and home automation systems. His experience has ranged from the Life Safety Control Building Automation industry at Siemens Building Technology and Cooper Wheelock to Automated Daylighting Controls at MechoShade Systems. He has also held positions within the Architectural Lighting Industry at Zumtobel and, most recently, a senior manager for Home Automation at Comcast Xfinity Home. Gary has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University in New Brunswick NJ. He lives in Mount Laurel, NJ with his wife and two children.
